Provides referrals to public and private child care programs including family child care homes and centers. Provides printed materials on choosing child care and referrals to groups, workshops, parenting classes, shared housing for families, and information on community resources.
Facilitates subsidy programs including a child care payment program for eligible low-income parents. Manages and coordinates Early Learning SF, through which subsidy-eligible families can choose from participating child care and preschool programs for potential openings. Participates in local child care planning and advocacy.
Also offers technical assistance for child care providers, including information on licensing, program development, a resource lending library and specialized training.
