Develops leadership skills and supports the personal growth of participants. Administers a Youth Leadership Council and a summer youth leadership team.
Youth Leadership Council meets weekly during the school year. Offers leadership training, personal growth, recreational activities, and planning community service projects for members. Trainings focus on group facilitation, public speaking, and conflict resolution. Personal development workshops focus on improving communication and decision-making skills, educational opportunities after high school, financial aid opportunities, SAT preparation, and domestic violence prevention.
Youth summer leadership team members serve as leaders for JCYC’s Tomodachi Summer Program. Under the supervision of adults, team members escort their group of children out on daily activities for a nine-week period. Youth plan weekly activities, monitor group budgets, and participate in training sessions.
