  • Economic Development and Social Justice


    Focuses on developing resident leadership and skills to enable low income families and immigrant communities to participate more fully in the broader civic life of our community. Services include:

    • Leadership development to prepare youth for civic action, community organization and workplace success
    • Computer programming for underrepresented youth and placed them in internship positions with local corporations
    • Economic empowerment program to support small business within the Canal neighborhood
    • Youth mentorship program to promote the use of restorative justice practices in Latino communities
    • Bilingual cultural healing circles and youth empowerment workshops at school
    • A safe space for grassroots groups to convene and share information about emerging community needs
    • A 24/7 hotline to assist families affected by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids
    • Co-organizing the annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration event to honor the cultural assets of immigrant communities and share the cultural legacy of Latin American cultures
